Mykola Tomenko: Kyiv Authorities intend to liquidate the Independent Trade Union of Doctors and set up a "Tame" Trade Union Organization
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expressed his concern with the situation in the medical sector of the capital.
M.Tomenko stated that years 2008 and beginning of 2009 were marked with numerous violations of doctors´ rights on the part of Kyiv city council, non-payment of increments for complexity and tension of work, etc.
According to M.Tomenko, Kyiv city council launched a wide-scope attack at the city trade union of doctors in April 2009, after the extended sitting of the plenum of Kyiv city trade union of public health employees that negatively appraised the state of affairs in the sector.
"Withdrawal of doctors from the trade union leads to the loss of the possibility to protect their rights. It seems that Kyiv authorities intend to liquidate the independent trade union of doctors and set up a "tame" trade union organization", - he stated.
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, also stated that he sent an appeal to Vasyl Khara, Head of the Trade Union Federation of Ukraine and Chairman of the Social Policy and Labour Committee, with a request to prevent violation of Ukrainian Laws.
